Bean's Book Blog: Book Reviews for Everyone

A blog for readers

Home July 21, 2008

Welcome to my book blog!books

I hope this will be a place for friends, family, teachers, students, and all readers to stay updated on books.  My book reviews are posted on the main page. Feel free to comment on them. I’ve used a 3 asterick rating system to keep things simple (borrowed from travel writer Rick Steves):

*** = don’t miss this book!               ** = a very good read

* = good                                           = worth mentioning

If you’d like to review a new book that is not on the front page, please do so on the Your Book Reviews page.  Or, if you have  recommendations for education/teaching books or a young adult or children’s book, please post your reviews on those pages.  If you are my student, then add your review to the student page.  Just choose the page that seems most appropriate for your review.   In any case, your recommendations should be written in the reply boxes (which unfortunately don’t allow italics or bold or any other font changes).

Once written, hit submit comment and I can then approve and post it.  Please note: once you hit submit, you cannot edit the comment.

Happy Reading,

Bean Klusendorf

    Hi Bean,
    I wanted to recommend The Story of Edgar Sawtell. A great read and it is a modern spin on Hamlet. It is a beautifully written coming of age story of a mute boy and his beloved dog, Almondine. I loved it and have recommended it to all my fellow book freaks! Jan Nealer

    Hey, nice tips on books. I’ll buy a glass of beer to that person who told me to visit your blog :)

    Hi Bean,
    At first, I thought, “Well, I really should be working rather than reading Bean’s Blog.” But then I justified it as “sort of working”. I was looking for inspiration as I need to create a blog for our NCA Reading group. I got side-tracked by your book reviews, though. I now plan to read The Beautiful Things that Heaven Bears as I am trying to read work by emerging African writers. I’ll also give three Cups of Tea another go. For me it was put-downable – at least on the first try.

    Nancy
